Switzerland in late summer

I am looking at some walking tours in the mountains near Geneva through either Explore or Guerba Tours. The time that will work best for me is the last week of August and the first week of September. Can anyone tell me how the weather will be then, and will there still be wildflowers? Thanks.

Bonjour PM,

The weather at this time of year is warm to hot with occasionnal thunderstorms. Unless there has been enough rain earlier in the season, there aren't that many wildflowers left.

Thanks for your response, Florence. If I go in mid-August instead, do you think the wildflowers will still be around then, or is August too late in the year?

It depends on how hot and dry the Summer has been. Last year, for example, there was hardly anything left by mid-July (in the mountains around Geneva - I don't know for other areas). There is no way of knowing whether we'll have such a scorching weather again this year, and I hope not.

Interesting....if that's the case, maybe I should just go with late August/early September. If there is another heatwave, God forbid, it will probably be over by then. Thanks so very much.
