Switzerland in late september

Hello again,

i will be at the opening of Oktoberfest this year starting mid September, plan on driving to Italy afterwards via the bernese oberland.I wanted to stay in lauterbrunnen area. My question is what should I expect weather wise. I was there once in early September we had sunny days with chilly nights. should i expect the same (Avg. temps I know it is hard to predict weather months in advance). I am also curious about road conditions (I assume it is still early for winter conditions.
any info would help I love pictures

thanks to anyone who takes the time to help out

The weather is always unpredictable in the Alps.
Snowfall can usually be excluded until mid October in colder and more rainy areas like Bernese Oberland and until November in warmer and sunnier areas like Valais.
End September/early October is usually drier than summer. But all kinds of exceptions from this rule are possible.
Bernese Oberland will be busy in the second half of September because of Bernese school (automn) holidays.

Necker is right - you never know. But certainly no snowfall in September and a good chance of sunny weather. And certainly chilly nights.

For May speaks that you have more snow on the mountains.

Also, daylight time is longer in May.

If you want to see snow mountains and glaciers only, it would be much easier (and much cheaper for sure!) to go to Stubai Valley or Zillertal, both along the direct Munich - Brenner Italy itinerary.
