Switzerland Brig train station

I'm planning a trip t Switzerland in late May of this year, most of my traveling will be by train.
While checking the train itinerary from Chur to Stresa (Italy)in the Galcier Express I will have to swicht train at Brig MGB-fo/bvz and walk for 7 minutes (as per the itineray) over to Brig Station to pick up my conecting Cisalpino train to Stresa.
Since I don't have a good pair of leg, Does somebody knows if I can find somebody to assist me and my wife with the luggage, for a
fee of course.
Thanks.

Hi norberto,

I don't think it'll be any problem! The Swiss Rail system (SBB) has provisions to help you. Here's the website:

http://mct.sbb.ch/mct/en/reisemarkt/...-rollstuhl.htm.

Note the toll-free number on the right-hand side of the page. I recommend that you call them from Chur maybe one or two days before your journey to reserve your help.

The only bad thing here is that you won't have a lot of flexibility for your travels; once you tell them which train you'll be on, of course you can't change your plans.

Have fun!

Having been to Brig MANY times here is what you really need to know.

First of all, the Matterhorn-Goothard Bahn station is directly across the street from the entrance to the Brig SBB station (where your train to Italy will leave from).

It will take you less than one minute to get from the platform from the M-G Bahn station, which are at street level, over to the entrance to the SBB station.

Admittedly it might take you as long as an additional six minutes to get to the platform from which your Cisalpino is leaving...but that will depend on whether or not it is leaving from one of the close-in platforms.

You will have to negotiate stairs up to the platform at that point.

I called this service that swandav2000 recommended, sometime last year for a small group of foreign tourists, about 5 persons including 1 person in wheelchair. As I remember a bit vaguely now, I requested the service over a few days including one going up from Brig to Zermatt and, like you are doing, one from Brig MGB station to Brig CFF station. I believe there was Zurich airport station to airport too. I was a bit worried if the service would all go alright but as the travellers informed me later, everything went well as planned, a staff with a lift was waiting at every station and got the person in wheelchair off and on the train. I felt so relived to hear it. As to the fee, the service was free. You only have to have the train ticket for the train. And only if you are a holder of a special card that certifies you are handicapped (you have to be a Swiss resident), you have to pay a full fare but your companion can travel free. Good luck!
