Switzerland 7 days from Zurich

Myself and my wife are planning 7 days trip starting from Zurich in first week of October 2017 and requesting if I can get input on what can be the best places to visit and stay starting from Zurich.

check the Switzerland section of the European Rail and Planning Guide - free online at www.budgeteuropetravel.com.

what do you mean by 'best' - Alpine places to me are the most awesome and the Jungfrau Region near Interlaken to me is the best place for novice tourists to head.

Yes I would highly reccomend going right from Zurich Airport to nearby Lucerne - one of the most gorgeous towns in Europe and on a lovely lake - boats go all over.

Then bop over the Brunig Pass on the Golden Pass scenic train (or local trains) to Interlaken and then head for the hills - to a place like Grindelwald or Wengen - stay 3-4 nights - this is the Alpine Wonderland of your dreams - glacier-girdled Alps rise smack opposite your hotel balcony - toylike trains and gondolas go off in all directions - hiking trails for all degrees of difficult abound.

Then spend final night in Zurich (a big city that is nice but not nearly as awesome or quaint as Lucerne or say Wengen.

Trains are the best way - for lots on Swiss trains check www.sbb.ch -Swiss Railways official site; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

This itinerary is all fairly close to Zurich so travel between bases is limited.

What does 'best' mean? When I read questions like this one, what I see is someone who has not taken the time to do any research of their own to see what might interest them. Instead they ask here for someone else to do the work for them.

What does 'best' mean?>

From a naive viewpoint they mean what are in our opinion - collective thinking -the best places for folks with limited time to spend their time.

Most would say the Alps but yes the OP should state more what they are interested in - Alps - cities, etc.

This is a prime example of what I am referring to on the new thread I just started on 'why do you go to X or Y?'

How can someone pick a place to visit (in this case Switzerland), without knowing what they are going there to see and do? To me, the obvious answer to, "what can be the best places to visit", is, those places that are the reason you made the decision to go there.

Otherwise, it's like someone just threw a dart at a map of the world to decide where to go.
