I am traveling with my husband and 9 months son to Switzerland for 8 days.
Which cities do you recommend to visit?

What attracted you to Switzerland in the first place? What interests do you have so that we can recommend where to visit? I take it that you don't want to be walking too far and certainly not hiking with a 9 month old baby, just somewhere flat enough to use a baby buggy. want

Switz is not really about the cities - it's about the outdoors and the mountains. With such a young infant I'm not sure ascending any mountains is a good idea (do check with your MD) not will you want to do a lot of hiking.

But there are many cute villages in the lowlands, lots of pretty lakes with steamers (Lucerne, Brienz, Thun) that give you grat biews of the surrounding countryside and you can certainly stay in one or more charming villages in the foothills of the mountains.

I would split time between Lucerne and one of the small villages near Interlaken, from which it's easy to visit Thun, Brienz and the Ballenberg Museum of Swiss life - which will have animals your child will like to see.

Besides a stroller I would take a snugli so you can carry the child in places.

I think we will start with Lurcerne and yes we don't want to do any hiking activity. We would like to visits the lakes and the open fields. Thank you for you assistance.

Not interested in the Alpine Wonderland that many folks have of Switzerland in their minds' eyes - you don't have to lift a foot to enjoy their splendor and if you yes get a place in family-friendly Wengen you need not budge off your hotel balcony to enjoy the views:

toylike trains and aerial cable ways go off in all directions and as nytraveler says there are non-Alpine things to do too - the lake boats, etc.

Are you going by train or car - Lucerne area needs no car as boats take you all around the lake and Swiss trains are great - take the scenic Brunig Pass rail route to Interlaken (part of the fabled Golden Pass scenic train route) - split time between the two for a great 8-days. And if traveling on trains check out some kind of Swiss Pass that overs not only trains but lake boats, city transit and gives free entry to hundreds of Swiss museums, like Ballenberg.

An easy glorious walk in the Jungfrau Region is the famous Ridge Walk - from Grindelwald or Wengen take a gondola up to The Mannlichen (rave vista) then walk the two miles or so to Kleine Scheidegg - slightly uphill but a wide path that baby strollers can go over - at Kl Scheidegg take the train back down to Wengen or Grindelwald.

Outstanding views over both the Grindlewald and Lauterbrunnen valleys with front views of the glacier-girdled Jungfrau Massif always in front of you:
