With further research, I can already tell that if weather cooperates, I will be spending a third night in the Engadin. Hotel rooms are available, so no problem there. I am surprised. I thought end June/beginning July would have enough European vacationers starting their holidays that the resort towns would be more booked.

I like the suggestion of Muottas Muragl for Friday afternoon/evening with the panorama trail. Although the chairlift only runs until 17:30, the tip on the funicular running until 23:00 makes this a great afternoon/evening option if clear.

I can see I want an entire day for the Bernina train and walking. The walk down from Cadera to Poschiavo looks idyllic. The views at Ospizio Bernina and Alp Grüm are dramatic and worth either getting off the train, walking around and getting on the next one or walking down between the stations. The walk down from Bernina to Moteratsch looks like a nice walk down through the forest. The cable car to Diavolezza is another option. I've visiting several glaciers, but each one is impressive. I will need to get an early start! The first departure is at 6:50. So I may have to choose between breakfast or early start.

The other day I will take the train to Guarda for a few hours. Maybe the walk from Ardez or the gondola above Scuol and walk to Prui and chairlift down to Ftan.

I have found that there is a 100-year Bever-Scuol railroad festival that weekend with music and activities in Bever, Zuoz, Lavin, and Scuol. I especially like the Oberengadiner Jodelchor, but I will investigate the other performers. Sounds like a great local event to make a part of my visit and my trip to the towns in the valley.

The upper valley sounds lovely as well, but with limited time I may have to visit that area on another trip. I hope it won't be 15 years again before I return to Switzerland!

One of my favorite trip itineraries began in Colmar (Alsace region), then to Stein am Rhein (northern Switzerland), then Guarda 3 nights (from which I visited Scuol, Ardez) and Soglio (2 nights). I've often thought that someday I would stay for a week or two on the east side and do day trips and hikes. It's such a lovely, almost undiscovered area. Enjoy your trip!
