Swiss travel pass/ Glacier express

Am currently in Rome. Heading back to Milan in 7 days. From there wish to do Glacier express from st Moritz to Interlaken or Zermatt. Can I buy Swiss travel passes in Tirano as can't seem to organise them in Rome? Should I reserve seats online and then book when I have travel passes? It was recommended to do part of the trip on the post us but I can't seem to link up train and bus times. Do you have to stay in Andermatt to do post bus next day?

If you can't buy Swiss Passes in Tirano - probably can at the Swiss station - then just pay for the GE to St Moritz where you should be able to - probably in Tirano from what I know but you can go to www.sbb.ch and book your passes online if you can print them out - someone said recently they bought on line and printed at home.

For Swiss Postal bus schedules Google Swiss postal buses Meiringen - where the bus ends and you take a train (or boat) to Interlaken.

There are just a few buses a day and no need to reserve IME - with a Swiss Pass fine but you do need to pay an Alpine supplement or at least I did last time but think I read that may no longer be the case.

for general Swiss transports info also check www.ricksteves.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com.

Yes book seats for the official GE online and show the pass when boarding. There are also regional trains on the same line tirano to st moritz - same scenery and just hop on with pass or regular ticket.

check www.swisstravelsystem.com for pass info - for general info that may shed some light on this also www.seat61.com.

What are you Swiss travel plans in full - maybe a Swiss Pass is not the best deal - maybe a Swiss Transfer Ticket or Half-fare Card could be a better deal.

But if traveling much more than indicated the Swiss Pass could be a great deal - if you buy a flexipass you can buy a Half-Fare Card at 1/2 price in conjunction with it. check the sites I mention above for details on all those options - should be able to buy all in Tirano - probably.

It appears that by "travel cards" being sold at Tirano as per neckervd's great link, you can indeed buy the Swiss Pass there.
