<<Teuscher rules...but it doesn't travel well>>
They have a shop in Rockefeller Center in NYC. And, I agree, the champagne truffles are fabulous!!! |
We brought Lindt and Frey chocolates back and later found the same things in Target and Walmart. DW and I did have a nice tour of the Frey museum and candy shop with lots of free samples.

I bought white voile curtains that were embroidered with white thread and used them in my bedroom until they shredded from the sun. They were unfinished at the top so that you could make them any length you wanted. I just loved them. I also adore Lindt chocolates, and you can find varieties there that are not available in the U.S.

I have quite a collection of tea/dish towels. They're mostly all white with small embroidered scenes on the bottoms (Swiss chalets, flowers, cows with bells, fondue/raclette, mountain peaks, etc.). Each one has the name of the city/town/village from which they were purchased: Grindelwald, Murren, Gruyeres, Vitznau, etc. Each time I use one, it brings back so many memories. They make great gifts, too, easy to bring home.
I've also got quite a few that are covered with many of the beautiful wildflowers seen on the mountain trails. Funny about the cowbells. My first trip to Switzerland (in '75), we bought cowbells to be used as windchimes. Nowadays they're at one of my kids' homes. Too noisy for me when the wind blows. |
Suchard! How could I forget Suchard? It's one of my favorites (chocolate) but oddly, I have a hard time finding it in Switzerland...

When my college roommate went to Switzerland on her grand tour, she brought back a lovely little and not expensive music box--I still have it and it still works! When my son went after he graduated, he brought back a Swiss Army card," a flat took kit. Available elsewhere, but still fun.

I like the set of knives that were sold in lots of places. There were 3 or 5 knives in the set, one was a paring knife and another had serrated edges. They had plastic handles in a variety of colors. I pick up sets for gifts, they have lasted a long time! I also like to pick up lace and towels.

I am cringing as I had a beautiful large cowbell that my MIL brought back from Switzerland. A friend loved it (my husband had attached it to a beautiful wood plaque) and I gave it to her. That is the only thing I have given away that I wish I had kept, sigh.
