P Peppy - that should have been 110 Swiss francs, yes considerably more than $110!

and perhaps the $650 was also 650 CHF or Swiss francs or about $780 - may OP can clarify as others may want to make cost analysis for similar trips.

at Manor Dept. store> Have not been in Switzerland for a few years but never say at Manor Department stores - are these a new item or per chance do you mean Migros - Migros are known for inexpensive down-home local fare in their cafeterias - some like in Interlaken with roof-top alfresco cafes with views to kill for.

One thing about Migros vs Coop - similar places is the Migros I believe still don't sell booze as per their founder's antipathy to alcohol I guess.

Yes, but you can get booze at Denner, which is part of the Migros group. There's often a Denner close to a Migros - in our neighbourhood, they're less than a block apart.

Yes but I was talking more about dining at Migros - it is sans booze so if you want a nip with your meal go to the Coop, always nearby it seems.

that Denner Diskount sells booze and is owned by migros seems a bit hypocritical but it is strictly a supermarket it seems and a supermarket in europe without booze?

Switzerland is unique IME in Europe in that there are more than a few restaurants which do not sell alcohol I believe - a temperance movement?
