Swirl the Glass wine tours

If anyone has done a wine tour with this company, I am interested to know which tour/location.

There are several and I am sure the wine will be great but we would also like a beautiful location...below are the offerings....leaning toward Tramonti but don't know the wines very well or the area. Suggestions?

Tenuta San Francesco Tramonti
Marisa Cuomo Furore
Avellino Mastroberardino Atripalda
Avellino Taurasi

Tenuta San Francesco has some of the oldest vines ever, which is very interesting to see, and nice views from the mountain down to the plains and then coastline.
Marisa Cuomo has a beautiful cellar and steep vinyards close to the sea.
Mastroberardino is the biggest and most "ready" for guests (can be positive or negative depending on your tastes).
The last one you left out the winery (it is just the wine region) but their site says it is the Caggiano winery, which is also nice.
You can google and find websites, facebook pages and other images from around the internet for all four of these wineries. I am sure the tour guide would be ready to answer your questions as well. Speaking only of the wine, I like Marisa Cuomo best.

Thanks...we did a tasting with you almost 3 yrs ago. It was terrific and I appreciate the info here!

To update for those visiting the Amalfi Coast, this is a definite must if you like wine. Tenuta San Francesco is so pretty and surrounded by all kinds of fruit and nut trees.
Christian is the sommelier at Le Sirenuse and does a great job with info on the vines, growing process, and wine making. This is not just a tasting room. The wine accompanies a home made lunch. The wine quantity is more than ample for the course and the food is wonderful. Everyone at Tenuta San Francesco is welcoming and I highly recommend this! The fee includes pick up and drop off at your hotel, the lunch and the wine. There is no pressure to buy wine but they do ship to the U.S. and you will want to buy! Everything is taken care of and this is a great experience. We would go again...I know they offer a few different options to other vineyards.

They are probably being tortured at Le Sirenuse.

The torture ends today as we leave Le Sireuse for Monastero Santa Rosa. We love it here....it's been a wonderful trip so far!

What is going on here?

Seems that someone is trying to promote someone.

denisea Sep 17th, 2015 11:23 PM

So terrible to let others know a tour was worthwhile and enjoyable, nochblad. Call it promotion if you want. Nothing wrong with sharing info, as that's the point. I don't have any personal stake in Swirl the Glass other than as an activity, we enjoyed it...that's what is "going on".

nochblad,

denisea has been on Fodor's for a very long time and asking questions and for help about this particular trip long before the trip began. Had she/he been disappointed in the winery experience, I feel certain he/she would have said so on this board.

It is very common for people who loved a particular wine tasting or hotel stay or restaurant to report back if they were helped on Fodor's with a specific suggestion. Just the other day someone came back to update a thread where they had asked for help in finding a hotel in Rome that would suit their needs for exploring new neighborhoods in Rome. They took a flyer on a suggestion made by another poster, and came back later to report they were really very happy with the experience, providing a long review of the hotel (that looked like something they had written up for TripAdvisor as well).

Is all that clearer to you now?
