How far is Gotenburg from Stockholm? What is the best way to travel between the 2 cities?

The fastest and most expensive way is by express train (I don't remember the Swedish train site), and the cheapest and slowest way is by bus (www.eurolines.se). I think the regular train takes 5 hours, and the express about half of that, but I'm not sure.

The fastest and most expensive way is not by train but by plane. I don't know when you're travelling but I took a look on rates in end february and return tickets will cost you around 100 euros including taxes. I think it's not so expensive, when you compare it to the train since it's so much faster.

Hi...we booked a flight Stockholm to Gotenburg and it was a little over $100 round trip. Know any good finds for small but elegant hotels?

Allyndon: do you mean in Stockholm or Gothenburg? I don't know what kind of hotels you like but I like the designer hotel Birger Jarl in Stockholm. Prices start at around 100 euro per night per room. Another great hotel, but more expensive, is Hotel Berns, with just 65 rooms.

In Goteborg, the best hotel in town is the Elite Plaza, my personal favourite. take a look on www.elite.se they also have hotels in Stockholm.

I hope this helped you a bit

Any thoughts on taking a night train to Copenhagan (I've heard it's an 8 hour trip) v. a flight? Also, has anyone taken a boat from Copenhagen to Gothenburg?

Hi!

As far as I know there are no boats from Copenhagen to Gothenburg.
If you are looking for night-trains there are no night-trains between Stockholm and Copenhagen or between Gothenburg and Copenhagen. There is one Stockholm - Malmoe (that is quite near Copenhagen - you could take a lokal train). For informations about trains i Sweden you may look at this site
