You usually plan your trips, and you're afraid your husband who's planning this trip won't have done as good a job as you would have. Oh, give the poor guy some credit and enjoy the places he will have chosen. Pack for cold weather and you'll be OK. Enjoy !

What happened to typical/basic travel advice? I didn't ask anyone their personal opinions about my trip. I asked you for recommendations of sights, restaurants, etc. If you can't do that, please refrain from commenting.

Yes, this is opinion, but here goes. This thread has gotten tainted, so I suggest you try a new one with specifics (such as neighbourhoods you have researched) and tag the post for a specific city. See if that can refresh what you are looking for.
One also has to accept that forums are all opinion based whether from experience or otherwise.

We can only respond to what YOU have written, which was odd to say the least.

Basic travel advice can be found in any guidebook or internet site. If you don't value experienced travelers' opinions, posting on a travel forum isn't useful because that's what it's all about - opinions.

"I didn't ask anyone their personal opinions about my trip." You can always seek the advise of a paid professional if you don't want someone's opinion.

FWIW, I understand that an OP might not always be pleased with responses one receives to posts on Fodor’s or elsewhere. What I don’t understand – just speaking for myself here -- is why an OP would choose to respond with rudeness. JMO; YMMV.

That said, I can offer a few of restaurant suggestions for Barcelona, with due thanks to fellow Fodorite kimhe (but without suggesting that he would agree with my mentioning them here), and noting that I have no idea what would make them a 4 or 5 * option in the OP’s view. I’m simply noting that I enjoyed them.

I haven’t been to Oslo and my time in Prague, Copenhagen, and Madrid were all while on a very limited budget, so I have no suggestions for restaurants in any of them.

Second all kja's restaurants suggestions for Barcelona, and I'll add Somodó for the best bargain gourmet experience in town, and tapas on Tickets, now # 25 on the world's best restaurants list. Extremely affordable for what you get, expect some 80€ pr person for about 15 tapas tastings and cava/wine beer. But at Tickets you must order two months in advance on the minute in order to get a table, so guess that's out of the question ;-)

And plenty of great restaurants here in Oslo apart from three star Maaemo. Kontrast is one of the newer and better, and Ekebergrestauranten has got great food and the best views over the city, the fjord and the hills.

Perhaps I missed it, but after all this I can't find the exact dates. There's a huge difference between early December, over Christmas, between Christmas and New Year etc. and whether it's a weekend or a midweek trip.

What an odd group. Who responds to an excited inquiry as "not my idea of fun"? or "what an awful surprise"?

I always finding it interesting -- maybe even rude -- when someone who poses a question chooses to come back and chide people who don’t respond in the way s/he wanted, but then ignores some posters who do try to answer the question. JMO.
