sunset in Paris
 

Does anyone have any idea approximately what time the sun sets in Paris during the winter? I'm going to Paris in January and would like to have some kind of idea so that I can make it to the Eiffel Tower in time for the sunset.

Go to weather.com for Paris and look under "averages", proceed to Janaury, and you will see sunrise and sunset for each day of the month. ALSO go to underground.com for Paris and to "historical" for Janaury. In January sunups average 8:38 am and sundown 5:22 pm, or about 8 hours 42 minutes of sunlight per day.

The only drawback of the view from the Eiffel tower is that - of course - you can't SEE the Eiffel Tower.<BR><BR>Just a suggestion - Sacre Coeur would be a great location to watch the sun set in Paris. From Sacre Coeur, not only is there a lovely view of all the rooftops of Paris, but you have a clear view of the Eiffel Tower, so your line of vision as the sun sets INCLUDES the Eiffel Tower. <BR><BR><BR>The site below lists the time for sunset in Paris in January from 5:04 on the first to 5:46 on the 31st:<BR><BR>http://www.torah.net/eng/calendar/paris.htm

Andrea is right!<BR><BR>If you take the stairs (or funiculaire) up to Montmartre, turn left AWAY from the Sacre Coeur, follow the sidewalk up to the Place de Tertre ... staying on the left side of the sidewalk, you are along a wrought iron fence...pass the Roman ampitheatre and you can see the most fantastic sunset view of the Eiffel Tower, above the rooftops and the 'peach' sorbet color of the sun setting directly behind the Tower and casting a warm 'glow' over the city.<BR><BR>Enjoy!
