Sunday shopping in Nice, France

The final day of our trip is a Sunday - I'm not much of a shopper on vacation but my daughters are hoping for a few goodies from France. Will the shops be open on Sunday in Nice? Or do I need to shop ahead of time? Merci!

Some shops in Old Nice are open. Most other shops will be closed, except the souvinier shops. I believe Aliziari is closed and so is Galleries Lafayette. Most shops in Old Nice will be closed on Monday morning too - some open in the afternoon. Aliziari will probable be open, and I'm pretty sure Galaries Lafayette is open Monday. Google Aliziari & Galeries Lafayette to confirm this.

It would be helpful if I spelled Alizari correctly.

Both Alziari & Galleires Lafayette are closed on Sunday. Alziari is also closed on Monday, but Galeries Lafayette is open.

Stu - do you have some favorite restaurants in Nice? not Micheline star types - just good Provence cooking. We will be staying near Old Nice and would like to find some places in that area. Merci!

There were a few stores open near Cours Saleya but not Alziari as Stu noted. I found another olive oil product shop on the same street near Alziari open on Sunday a few weeks ago.

Tourist oriented shops on Rue Massena were open.

We've dined in Nice at least 20 times. Very few meals, if any, have been memorable. The worst meals I've had in France were in Nice - stinky mussels, soggy fries, overcooked fish - you name it. I thought the Alziari restaurant in Old Nice was horrible.

The Michelin Starred restaurants all seemed way overpriced to me. In other regions in France, we dine at 1 star restaurants quite a bit.

We've had several very FUN dinners at Sarafi on the Cours Saleya. Good people watching, food better than the other places we've tried in Old Nice & on the Cours.

Hi suec1 - We just got back from Nice and our favourite restaurant was Acchiardo, 38 rue Droite, 93-85-51-16. You must make reservations as it is always packed. We loved the food and the prices were very reasonable. Their own house wine is 8 euros.
