For me, a no-brainer. <BR> <BR>Last weekend the Grand-Eaux started at Versailles. Each Saturday and Sunday from 3:30 to 5:00 in the afternoon the fountains are turned on in the gardens accompanied by music from French baroque masters like Lully, Lalonde, Charpentier, and Rameau as well as works by Bach, Haendel, Vivaldi and Mozart......a nice way to spend an afternoon. The cost is 30 Francs. <BR> <BR>Then take a long walk around the Grand Canal if you get a chance. <BR> <BR>In the morning I would browse the Louvre where Sunday prices are cheaper than the rest of the week (with some Sundays free if you enter via the Richelieu entrance).

The Sunday before last, we had brunch, went to the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris on the right bank, then at about 5 pm, we walked to the left bank, had crepes from a crepe stand and pastries from a boulanger on rue Cler (only things open besides a grocery), and walked to the Parc du Champs de Mars, in front of the Eiffel Tower. There were no tourists around at all, only French families with kids out playing in the Park (probably more people/tourists in high season!). Gradually they all left, and we and a few other people hung out as the sun set and the Eiffel Tower slowly lit up. Hung around for the first Eiffel light show at 9. Took some fabulous photos. Then back to the hotel to turn in early, for a change.... a beautiful day.

There are lots of shops open in the Marais, esp. along rue des Francs-Bourgeois. This is a lovely area to explore, anyway.

Does anyone know the approximate times the shops in the Marais are open on Sunday?

Jakes--I'll be in Paris in September. Do you know if the Grands-Eaux et al continues through September or does it end in August?

Probably from about 10 am til 6 or 7 pm. Some take a break for lunch.
