Summer Tobagganing Germany and Switzerland
Last time we were in Germany, we loved the summer tobogganing runs.
Now we're going again and I'm wondering where your favorite summer tobogganing runs are? |
My favorite topic!! #1 was definitely Garmisch-Partenkirchen, by the ski jumps. The reason it is my favorite is because I was staying in G-P for 1mo and after I found this Summerrodelbahn, the kids and I went every other day or so for a few rides - after lunch or dinner, etc just to have some fun. There was one right near Neuschwanstein that was closed due to rain. Then there was the Blombergbahn somewhere in the same area that was a much longer run than G-P. I actually tried to plan driving routes to Salzburg and Innsbruck just so we could go another run. In the end though I must say GP was the best - not for the thrill or the ride itself, but for the memories. |
And if you too are wondering what is tobogganing is, lookie here:

"Why is this nearly non-spellable word used instead of plastic board sledding?"
I think the main reason is nudity. |
Our little secret, DeeDee? |
LOL! Shame, shame Faina - you're on your way to Switzerland, too!
J62, We have been to the Garmisch-Partenkirchen summer tobogganing run! And a HUGE HIT it was! A trip back to Germany just wouldn't be the same without a "sommerrodelbahn." Tried to go to the one near Neuschwanstein, but it was just closing. So we watched the last runs of the day come in! Looking for more locations - anyone? |
Well... I will HAVE to invent nude skiing, is there a fancy word for that?

Hypothermia. |
Will my hyper-tension offset your hypo-whatever?

There are so many toboggan runs in Switzerland now. They are definately in most tourist areas. Just ask at your local tourist office in Switzerland for directions for the closest Rodelbahn.

My favorite was the one at the intersection of the small cable car and the big cable car going up Mt. Pilatus outside Lucern. It is really a long run. I would say it is a mile long but that is probably an exaggeration. I didn't try it nude but no one said I couldn't.
