Summer Time Ends

Don't forget summer time ends tonight in Europe.

Back to dark afternoons :(.

This is a most timely reminder; I remember losing the hour one Spring and not realizing it until the morning of our flight.

That was years ago, before I discovered the wonders of Fodors!

Daylight savings time ends on November 3rd here in the States. Some folks travelling internationally are going to miss flights over that, I'm sure.

Yes - a great reminder. We arrived in Paris on the weekend this happened - and the plane had left NY on time and with tailwinds landed 30 minutes early. So several foreign flights - from the US/Canada (not so bad) and Africa (a big problem) landed at the same time - to a grand total of 2 Immigration agents - since we were an hour early for them.

It was worse when all those from the African plane arrived - started to push to the front - actually push some elderly people out of their way - and them of course got to the front and were almost all pulled aside for extra questions. We were near the front - so it wasn't so bad - and with 2 big guys - and my elbows - managed to hold our place. Eventually the rest of the agents turned up - and sent all those from the African plane to a separate line for problem tourists - so those from the US and Canada weren't all delayed for hours.

Thanks, hetismij2. Helps with calls I need to make to France tomorrow. Merci!

"Back to dark afternoons"

Back to light mornings, as well.

Notice how it's only journalists (who famously can't be bothered getting up till most of us are hard at work) who whine on about the clocks reverting to natural time.

Back to dark afternoons, night falls an hour earlier. Sniff.

Hereabouts it's the journalists who try to talk people into the opinion that summer time should be abandoned altogether.

I'm not a journalist. I hate it getting dark so early and having to spend so much time in artificial light.
I am up early most days and am usually walking the dog before most working people have heard their alarm go off, but I would still rather have that hour of light in the afternoon.
