Summer Lodge (Evershot, Dorset) vs. Combe House (Gittisham, Devon)

Can anyone compare Summer Lodge (Evershot, Dorset) and Combe House (Gittisham, Devon)?
Has anyone been to these and can compare the food, the place, and nearby things to do (in October)?

Thanks much.

it might be helpful for those reading this thread and wanting to help you for you to post links to them, bb.

but moving on, I have been to private dinners at Combe House a few times and stayed with my DH once for our anniversary; it's very luxurious in a laid back english country house manner and the food is excellent. so long as you're willing to drive a little way, within a short distance you have the southern coast [Lyme Regis, Sidmouth] Exeter, Topsham, the Blackdown hills, even Dartmoor there is plenty to do.

I can't help you with the Summer Lodge, and of course you haven't said exactly what you are looking for, nor your budget. Combe House is not cheap!

I doubt you will find anyone who has stayed (or even visited) both to be able to compare./contrast them. Both are in very rural spots so you will have to drive to get anywhere except the hotels themselves.

Combe House is close to Honiton so that helps. Summer Lodge isn't really near a town/village of any size.

Thanks all. We will have rental car so proximity to towns isn't necessary. This is a splurge trip so budget isn't as big a driver as it usually is. Thanks, too for advice about links.
