Summer Itinerary opinions.
Traveling to Italy this summer.
Our Itinerary follows.
Venice 3 nights Hotel Locando Fiorito.
Florence 3 nights Hotel Nuova Italia
Rome 2 nights Residenza San Pantaleo
Sorrento 2 nights Hotel Il Faro
Rome add'l 3 nights Residenza San Pantaleo
The hotels were chosen for price and location.
Recomendations of day trips and good reasonable restaurants would be appreciated.
I know at least one hotel is iffy, but chose it for reasons already stated.
Thanks

recommendation on day trips :
when you book your day trip at the travel agent, dont forget to TELL HIM IT IS IN ITALY or he might send you somewhere else
hopefully from now on you will label your posts with a proper subject

Hi mark,
Why not go directly from Florence to Sorrento and then to Rome.
That will save one day of packing and unpacking?
This link will help you with daytrips, etc.
Helpful Information: Italy http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...2&tid=34443340

Hi marknpeg,
I'm not familiar with any of your hotels, but you can see reviews at tripadvisor.com. Is there a reason you've broken up Rome into two visits? Why not go directly from Florence to Sorrento, spend 2 (or 3) nights there, then end in Rome?

Sorry for the confusion. This was to Italy and I am new.
We stopped at Rome from Florence to break up the long train ride. We are seniors and the trip to Sorrento would have put us in late.
We are more concerned about time we are allowing and hotel choices.
Tips on food would be helpful.
Thanks

Hi marknpeg
>We stopped at Rome from Florence to break up the long train ride. <
The 09:29 ES* gets you to Naples at 14:16. From there it is less than an hour to Sorrento.
>Tips on food would be helpful.
Do you have any particular allergies or religious proscriptions?

Hello marknpeg, I too at first thought it would be better if you went from Florence to Sorrento and then spent the last days in Rome.
But after reading your post regarding that traveling directly to Sorrento would entail you arriving late in Sorrento I understand the schedule you have in mind.
I am not famaliar with your hotels but I would say that your itineray looks fine to me.
You did not state, I believe, what period of time you will be traveling in Italy. If it is in July or August do be aware it can be hot with a lot of humidty.
I sure wish you both a beautiful trip.
