Summer Concerts in Paris

Does anyone know about summer concerts in Paris (August)? Outdoors would be great but not necessary. Have teenager in tow and would like to do something musical.

Rock en Seine is usually on around mid-end August, but other than that August is a quieter time for the larger concerts/festivals as it's holiday time for the Parisiens.

Check www.whatsonwhen.com or www.parissi.com to see what will be on during your time there. Als check the Paris tourism website (although they aren't always on the ball).

Here is a website with some information on August concerts.

We love including a concert at Sainte Chapelle - which has 3 price ranges. we get seating A, where you only have the premium first 4 rows in front of you. You can see everything and it is mesmerizing.

Thought it is less expensive to sit in the back, largest section I find it distracting to have so many people in front of me.

Thank you for the links. Included one I didn't know about.

Booked Sainte Chapelle, as was fortunate to be there for the same concert 10 years ago. It was truly memorable. Very special.

Wow!Thanks everyone! all these links are great! If anyone has a suggestion for a play or show that we could go to and follow the action, I would appreciate it very much.

Just get an entertainment guide when you are there and see what's on, that's all I do. They have weekly guides at the news kiosks, come out Wednesdays (l'Officiel des Spectacles, Pariscope). They often have a summer festival in Paris that runs from end of July into August as I recall, and it has some concerts in the parks that are free. it may be this, not sure http://www.quartierdete.com/

They also have special ballet performances from visiting companies in that time period, also, I saw the Ballet Nacional de Cuba at the Grand Palais once and last year I saw a company from Russia at the Chatelet Theatre.

It sounds like you aren't looking for anything like that, though. I've never noticed any plays in Paris that aren't in French (at least, very few), and August isn't theatre season, anyway. August is the worst month of the year for performing arts, I'd say.

You might consider the Fete des Tuileries, at least it's in August http://www.feteforaine-jardindestuileries.com/

go to some booking site and you can search events, like www.fnac.com or www.ticketnet.fr

Christina, Thank you. We would love to see a Ballet but could not find one in August. Just one modern dance group from Israel, that we are considering.

I didn't think it likely, even when I saw the ballets I went to in summer (the Opera de Paris ballet season always closes on July 14th, I believe, I know it is never in August), I think it was the end of July, not in August. That performance you found is probably going to be about it for dance in Paris in August. The Chatelet Theatre is having the Miami City Ballet this summer, but it is in July. They are closed in August.

We opted for an early concert in Sainte Chapelle and a lively comedy, albeit in French, at the Le Cafe de la Gare. The play is Le Tour de Monde en 80 Jours. Should be fun.

Thank you everyone! All the links were very helpful.
