Summer airfare - here we go again!

I think I post this every winter! We are going to ireland for a wedding in June and then taking a little side trip to Paris. The current fare is $1206 Chicago to Dublin, then Paris back to Chicago. Does that sound like a fair fare? I have paid that much for flights in the past couple years but does anyone think there will be any summer sales in the next month or so? (I know, you are not tea leaf readers!) Anyhoo, would you pull the trigger or wait? Thanks!

I just read that the ideal time to buy tkts is around six weeks before your trip.
BUT, I have my doubts.
I like to plan a bit more, and that six weeks does not give me enough time for that.

Depending upon what part of June you are looking at or if your dates are flexible, you may want to check out Aer Lingus.

I played with some dates and found a multi city from Chicago to Dublin and Paris to Chicago for just over $1100. Not a huge savings but something. Just back and forth from Chicago to Dublin was around $950.00.

Don't ususally travel to Europe from US in the summer months but this year it is different, we fly Houston to Berlin and Budapest to Houston in September, I nearly choked, ticket prices on Continental with Lufthansa portion is $1356 each. Now I remember why we don't travel in summer tho I'm not sure ticket costs are better any time now.

Use Kayak.com

set up a fare alert

buy now and be done with it and yes IMO your fare is TOTALLY and COMPLETELY reasonable, fair, honest, patriotic, etc., etc., AND we KNOW you can afford it, too

It seems fair to me. Why would you expect fares to be cheaper this summer than in the last couple of years? I don't know of any costs that would be lower this summer than two years ago.

No, I didn't think they would be cheaper this summer for this route. We paid this price to fly to Italy, which is generally more. Our dates are pretty set, because of the wedding and our apartment rental in Paris. If we could save quite a bit we could change dates by a day or two. I do use kayak, almost exclusively. Dates are June 16 - 27. Thanks!
