Suitable Hotels in London Area

Im planning to go to London in early December for 5 Day/4 nights.

Can anyone recommend a suitable hotel / B&B in the Bloomsbury area or near Victoria Station that wont break the budget ? There will be 3 of us in the travelling party

I stayed at the Euston Plaza four years ago. It's a 4 stars, very nice hotel in Bloomsbury, and I paid, by that time, less than a hundred pounds per night, BF included.

You'll find cheaper hotels on:

www.hotel-assist.com

Surlok

There was a good discussion on Fodors forum some two weeks ago of hotels near Victoria station, and by e-mail I am copying you a conflation.

I also have on disc notes on pub meals and other cheap meals in London: shall I copy it to you ? And in general, can I help further ? Welcome to London. It has a special sparkle in early December.

Ben Haines

Am also looking for a London hotel or B&B for under $100/nt. in last October. Prefer to first get personal advice then check website Surlok gave.

Feel with all the day visiting we will do in the three days we do not need a fancy hotel. Thank you for any advice

P.S. BEN, would welcome your compilation as well. THANK YOU.

Good luck on finding anything in central London for under $100 a night. You might do, but it will still be close to $100. Expect around 60-80 pounds a night for most of them in Bloomsbury. But you are paying for the close in location.

One that I can recommend without hesitation is the Morgan Hotel on Bloomsbury street, a great family run hotel with nice rooms and an excellent included breakfast. It backs up the British Musuem and is well located to tube stations, pubs, etc. It is very popular and books up quickly so you will need to get reservation in soon.

They are at
24 Bloomsbury Street
London, WC1B3QJ

Tel: 0207 636 3735

Probably cost at least $100 a night for a double, maybe a bit more.

One street that is chock-a-block with B&B's in Bloomsbury is Cartwright Gardens. One in particular that I have stayed at and liked was the:

Jenkins Hotel
45 Cartwright Gardens, Russell Square, London, England
011-44-0-20-7387-2067 phone www.jenkinshotel.demon.co.uk

This is my favorite B&B in Bloomsbury. Although a little pricier than most, this is my first choice to return to when it's available.

Another street that is plentiful in Bloomsbury for B&Bs is Gower Street. Bear in mind, however, that this is an extremely busy street (heavy traffic) and so I would recommend a room in the back of the hotel instead of the front.

I also second a previous poster's suggestion for The Morgan.

You might want to also look into a web site that seems to very popular with my friends in the UK is: www.smoothhound.co.uk. For your criteria, I think it's worth checking out.

We stayed at the Arosfa Hotel on Gower Street in Bloomsbury a few weeks ago. It was excellent value for the money. A double with sink in room and bathroom down the hall was 51 GPB per night. I think they also have en suite rooms. The place was immaculate, the owners were very friendly and helpful, and the location can't be beat! It is listed in Let's Go and a few other guide books.
