Hi Everyone. I'm seeking information and some suggestions concerning Christmas gifts I want to send a family in Germany. <BR> <BR>My question is: I would like to send a bottle of wine made from a grape grown in our area. Is their any problem with customs on their end if I do this? <BR> <BR>I've got gift ideas for all the members but one. There is an 11 year old girl. I have no idea what might be a nice gift to give her from the US. If those of you familiar with German kids could give me a suggestion, I would be most grateful. Thanks so much. <BR>

Hello Rudy, <BR> <BR>I would send a nice T-Shirt or a Levi`s if you happen to know her size-they are really expensive here. Another idea is something written in English, at that age she should be starting to learn English in school. If she is into computer games-maybe a cd-rom with something educational. I would combine something from your country with the wishes of a girl that age. And, no I don`t think that it really depends whether it`s a girl living in the States or here in Germany-they tend to like the same things. When my daughter was 11-15 she corresponded with a girl she'd stayed with on a gymnastic team trip. They sent each other 'teen type magazines ("Seventeen" from here), and for some reason her German friends loved American bubblegum (at that time the cans of bubblegum tape were really popular.) Also, "fad" type fashion accessories went over really well, and t-shirts from American Universities.

My neices who are the same age like Barbie dolls, the prices were a lot higher in Germany than here.

I don't want them to have to pay a tariff on it. <BR> <BR>And Marika...I *have* traveled; I *do* have relatives in Germany; I *do* realise that people are people. I did want to give them all something from America that either has a special meaning, or that they could not get in Germany. OK? Sheesh...

My daughter (same age) corresponds with a girlfriend in Italy. They love the kind of jewelry accessories at Claires, CD's, candy, candy, candy, (nerds, airheads,bubblegum, simple books, maybe poetry like Silverstein, and hand made crafts.
