Suggestions re: lodging in a town whose cafes aren't closed on Sunday?

Inartfully worded, but I tried. On previous trips to France we've always managed at least one Sunday to be in a B&B in a town with no restaurants open. What are we doing wrong?

Sure, we could just live on bread for a day.
Yes, we could rent a gite for a week.
Of course, we could research every restaurant in every town in every department we plan to visit.

But, there must be an easier way. to eat a good meal on a Sunday evening in Provence or the Dordogne. Help is appreciated.

I've been in Provence on Sundays and don't remember any problems. I've checked my trip reports and this is the list of places where I found cafes/restaurants open:

Avignon
Uzes
Biot
Antibes
Grasse
Apt
Peillon

I'm sure there are many, many more towns where you can eat; the larger towns/cities will all have cafes/restaurants open.

Some chambres d'hote will provide a meal (at a cost, of course).
I can personally recommend both the room and the dinner at:

In my experience, Mondays can be even a bigger problem.for finding open restaurants and cafes in France, especially in smaller Towns.

Lunch has never been a problem, but I have had to eat bad pizza for the evening meal. Sunday Lunch is a thing. Sunday dinner is not.

In smaller, non-touristy towns in France many restaurants do not serve dinner Sunday evening. I would check the town you will be in on Sunday and if none of the restaurants are open check surrounding towns.

Concierge of desk clerk at your hotel should be able to tell you which places are open Sunday night.

I would say that any town with a population of at least 10,000 (and sometimes less if it is tourist oriented) will have several cafés open in the center of town on Sunday (or along the waterfront or whatever the local attraction may be).
