Suggestions on traveling from Palermo, Sicily to Munich, Germany

I will be traveling with my daughter this March. She is going on a choir trip with her high school choir. We are adding a few days prior to the planned trip. We are visiting family in Sicily. I am very surprised how expensive it is to fly to Munich departing from Palermo. Does anyone have suggestions on how to make this more affordable? The lowest price I have found so far is $466 per ticket. I was hoping for something a lot less. I need to get to Munich at 8am on March 24. I can leave Palermo the day before to assure we arrive there. Would appreciate any hints. I don't have an abundance of time due to the fact that I only have a few days with family. I really don't want to leave Palermo prior to Wednesday, March 23.

I even tried flying out of Palermo to Florence then to Munich. I am okay with that but would prefer not to have to do a lot of plane hopping.

Thx.

Checked on Skyscanner.com and they don;t show any non-top flights. There is an inexpensive flight that stops at FCO - that looks like the best bet in March - $93 each -but it takes a while.

You can fly non-stop one way from Palermo to Verona on either Volotea or Ryan Air for about 100e or less, and then take the fast train (scenic!) from Verona to Munich, which is a 5 hour journey. If you book far enough in advance you can get discount fares. Second class is probably about 40e, but for 5 hours on a train, I would go for the quiet car in business class, which usually is only about 20e more if you are getting the discount.

Actually, since you are traveing with your daughter, skip the quiet car and just take business class. Not talking or whispering for 5 hours would not be much fun. If you can catch an early flight out of Palermo, you'll have more daylight to enjoy the mountain views.

Try this site: http://www.flylc.com/directall-en.asp

You may have to wait until January to get the March schedules.
