Suggestions needed for Mallorca hotel base with a walkable town

My family will be visiting Mallorca next June for 5 days or so. We've never traveled there, and I'm struggling to find the right location to base ourselves. I'm hoping to find something comparable to the Amalfi Coast towns we've spent time in- specifically, a hotel with a great view and pool for relaxing, but also within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops. We're not looking for cosmopolitan so much as picturesque, and prefer not to have all our meals at the hotel. It doesn't necessarily need to be on the coast. An inland village is equally appealing if there are options for strolling and dining and a nice place to stay. Palma isn't appealing because of its size and general busy vibe. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer!

Have a look at Puerto Pollenca at the northern end of the island. Lots of great restaurants, lovely beach, good hotels and easy access for days out. There are spectacular views along the north west coast (need a car) and excellent evenings to be spent in Pollensa itself, some 5K inland. Try the Hotel Son Sant Jordi in Pollensa, a two minute stroll from the centre, nice rooms and gardens with a pool. However I'm not sure if it has reopened as yet.

We've stayed in this area many times and love and prefer that end of the island.
