suggestions for sightseeing in evenings and weekends.

I'm going to be in Paris for 3 weeks on a business trip and was wondering if anyone could suggest some must-see places
that were open on the weekends and in the evenings. Thanks!

If you go into http://www.pariscope.fr, then into expos, you'll dsee a list in French of all the museums that have exhibitions, with notes of any weekday evening opening times. On the same age, underr tous les musees, you get a list in French, with opening times: a similar list in English is on http://www.intermusee.com. Then the same Pariscope pages, under scene, Concerts, classiques, shows a good number of old churchyes tha offer weekday evening concerts.

You can buy the same information on paper for 3 francs or 50 US cents at a newsagent at your arrival airport.

Please write if I can help further. Welcome to Europe.

Ben Haines, London
How about an evening bateau mouches down the seine with everything illuminated. They have simple sightseeing and dinner cruises. There is also dinner at the Eifel Tower, make a reservation and ask for a window seat. Then there is the Musee D'Orsay which is open till 21.45 on Thursdays. Sunday at Versailles when the fountains are operating (if it is not too cold).

The fountains at Versailles are not operating anymore for the winter. And as an aside, Giverny is closed for the season until April.

1) Eiffel Tower is open at night; the view is pretty spectacular
2) Sacre Coeur is open until 11pm every night
3) Galeries Lafayette is open until 9pm on Thursday; Printemps is open every night until 7.
4) Louvre is open til 9:45 on Wed (part of it is open on Monday til 9:45)
5) The Beaubourg is open until 10pm every night.
6) Just about all of the museums are open Saturday and Sunday (there are a few exceptions, mostly the obscure museums)
7) Notre Dame is open until 7pm
8) Pere Lachaise is open until just five or six (winter it closes fairly early) but it's open all weekend
