Thanks, annhig. Be nice, but I'm sure plenty of other flowers will be blooming.

Hi yes travel, I see you are on the move again! I think we worked out we would miss each other in the UK. I'm in Dorset for last couple of weeks of May and heading to the Cotswolds on the 27th May.

Enjoy your planning..

We were there in June and they were wonderful. Late May might be good. If not at least you will be in the England for the rhododendrons and blue bells.

Another completely undiscovered garden in the Cotswolds is Misarden PArk.

Thanks - they look lovely!

another one to add to your list, yestravel - Nymans. I knew that i had missed at least one garden out, and today on our visit to Caerhays Castle, I saw a plant which was called " somethingorother nymansiensis" which prompted my memory.

it's another NT, and a real plant-lovers' garden as i recall.

BTW, should anyone be in Cornwall during the next few weeks, Caerhays is in full bloom. DH and i spent a wonderful morning there admiring the gorgeous camellias, rhododendrons, and azaleas [rare to see them all out so well together] but best of all were the magnolias. There was one in particular, which must have been at least 50 ft high, covered from top to toe with slightly scented white flowers. Absolutely stunning. And the beach was pretty nice too.

Exbury is lovely in May, although it's a bit out of the OP's way - not much further than Mottisfont though.

Trelissick in Cornwall. I always love doing the walk along the creek there.

Bodnant in Wales is my contribution.

annhig's Garden in Cornwall is my suggestion!

annhig's Garden in Cornwall is my suggestion!

annhig Apr 6th, 2017 12:39 AM

So good you suggested it twice, Pal!

PalenQ Apr 6th, 2017 01:01 PM

they would not let me do it thrice! How much do you charge? do you have a cafe?

annhig Apr 7th, 2017 08:40 AM

no cafe but we could probably rustle up the odd scone and some clotted cream!

yestravel Apr 7th, 2017 08:57 AM

We'll be there...

Not even a pasty? Or a Cornish hen - you must have those running amok, right?

let's make it a "bring your own pasty" event, Pal.

as for cornish hens, we've got a few of them, but no Cornish Hens which are an american invention.
