Suggestions for budget trip in about 13 euro cities

This summer I am going to Europe with three friends. We are all college students, looking to have a good time and relax but also see a lot of sites. We have all been to Europe before and done all of the big tourist things in most major European cities. We will be on rail pass so anything that requires a car would be out.

We will be visiting the following cities and were hoping to get some help finding unique budget hotels when possible (hostels the rest of the time) as well as any other tips on the best local sites, restaraunts, etc.

Monterosso in Cinque Terre
Cannes
Aix-En-Provence
Montreux
Trier
Paris
Amsterdam
Berlin
Munich
Vienna
Venice
Riccione
Florence

Also, one of our friends is a war-history nut so any recommendations in that area would be greatly appreciated..for example we are stopping at Les Invalides in Paris. We are not looking to go to the Normany beaches though.

A good book to buy for budget hotels and hostels is "Frommers on how to do ____ on $60.00 a day". Since that would be a lot of books to buy, you could go to the library with pen and paper and look them up. Or...go to your local bookstore and look them up. Have a great time!

I really recommend the "Lonely Planet" series of travel books. They list a lot of hostels in cities, and things like laundromats. They also give recommendations on good dining halls in university cafeterias. Stuff along those lines to help save a few bucks.

You might try "Lonely Planet - Europe." It's a big book, but I don't know if it will have enough detail for your itinerary. "cd" has excellent advice about browsing the books at a bookstore or library.

Thanks for the reply and I have a couple books as well as one big book for all of Western Europe which I have found very helpful to this point in selecting places to go.

What I am now looking for are peoples suggestions from past trips; what they enjoyed, etc...

I listed a lot of cities in the first posting so I guess I should give a shortened list for the cities we have absolutely no idea where we are staying or are looking for more things to do:

Monterosso
Aix-En-Provence
Montreux
Vienna

Monterosso al Mare is probably the most upscale of the five towns.Riomaggiore will have more budget accommodations and a younger crowd.
