suggestions for a trip to Greece
 

I am planning to spend 9 days in Greece with my girl friend in early September. I am thinking about at least 3 days in athens. I would very much appreciate if someone can recommend an additional city and an island for us to visit during that time. Thanks a lot.

In my personal opinion...I think 3 of 9 days in Athens is too much. Fly straight into an island such as Santorini/Mykonos or sail to an island like Paros/Naxos/Sifnos and then sail back to Athens for the last 1-2 days. Athens is great for the ruins and atmosphere...but also busy, polluted, <BR>and expensive. Or check out other parts of Mainland Greece (Delphi, Meteora, etc.) <BR>Any futher questions, just e-mail me.

There was a hosted forum on the Greek islands last year. If you haven't already checked it out, you should - it will give you plenty to consider. We're going to Greece in early September, and we're planning to go to Naxos, Santorini and Rhodes (from there, we'll go to Turkey for a few days). We plan on 2 nights in Athens, which really equals only 1 full day there - I was there many years ago and I think that's probably enough time. I was there many years ago but my husband hasn't seen it.

Hi, a day in athens is enough, we were very disappointed with athens. see mykonos and santorini, is a must!!

I found Athens to be very dirty, polluted and crowded. I wouldn't spend more than a day there. If you're into classical culture, I can recommend the following cities: Ancient Corinth, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Delphi. Olympia and Nafplion are nice, too. SanTorini (island--Thera) is a must see. The islands are terrific.
