Suggestions for a Rome Restaurant

Our three generation family of thirteen (youngest 16, oldest 76) will be in Rome for three days in mid-July. I will appreciate recommendations for a casual restaurant for the one family dinner we will have together. Our hotel is in the Piazza Navonna area. Restaurant L'Orso, Via del'Orso 33 was recommended on another web site. I would appreciate comments from anyone who has been to this restaurant - as well as suggestions for any restaurants in the Piazza Navonna area that would be suitable for our large multi-generational group. Thanks for any help.

Without a doubt,Ristorante da Pallaro. It's between Piazza Navona and Campo dei Fiori. It is a 20 euro prix fixe menu that's perfect for a large group, all served family style.Served by Mamma,no less! It's listed on the restaurants section of this website.

I second Ristorante da Pallaro. The food was delicious and they were kind enough to seat us just as they were closing. The restaurant is behind San Andrea della Valle church on the right hand side.

Another good restaurant was Le Cave near the Pantheon. Take the sidestreet to the left of the Pantheon, Via del Seminario. Walk until the end of the block where it leads you to Piazza di Sant'Ignazo. They have room inside and outside to accomodate large groups. We had the gnocchi, roasted chicken and potatoes, and spaghetti with mozzerella, tomatoes, and basil. It was delicious and we ate here twice.

Orso 80 - close to Pantheon, just past Geoliti's (spelling?) the Gelato place. Sorry for the poor directions and poor spelling, but I can't find the restaurant's card. It was a true Roman experience with excellent homemade food in which we loved every single morsel! We will always go back there. Mostly locals are there, but you will find a few tourists as well.

I agree, Ristorante der Pallaro, our favorite family restaurant in Italy! It's on a tiny square at Largo del Pallaro, 15. It was open Tuesday through Sunday during our visit. Looking at a detailed map of Rome, find Piazza navonna. Run your finger south of Piazza Navonna, across the major street Corso Vittorio Emmanuele, and just east of Camp dei fiori and you will see "L. d Pallaro" in tiny print. That's the street.

since you have a big group I would stop by and try to get a reservation. or see if your hotel can get you a reservation.

We all loved this ristorante, including my teens! The price, which was 20 euros last June, includes wine, 5 courses, and dessert! And lots of atmosphere...We sat inside and really enjoyed it. There's also an outside patio.
