Suggestions for a good 'Curry House' in London

I will be meeting my mum, sister and nieces in London following a trip to Norway (lots of fish and yummy Norwegian food).
We will be staying close to Victoria Station and I would love to go a a really, really good Indian Restaurant following this trip (we all like hot spicy curry but my sister and mum are hard to please).
Any suggestions, close to Victoria however, we are prepared to travel on tube or local bus.
Thank you
Helen

Here are a few I pulled up on Yelp that are highly rated:

1. Amaya Restaurant- Motcomb Street (Belgravia)
2. New Tayyabbs- 83-89 Fieldgate Street (Whitechapel) www.tayyabs.co.uk
3. Benares Restaurant- 12 Berkeley Square (Mayfair) www.benaresrestaurant.com
4. Masala Zone- 48 Floral St (Covent Garden) http://www.masalazone.com/locations_coventgarden.php

Here is the actual link on Yelp I pulled these from: http://www.yelp.co.uk/search?find_de...h_options:true. I sorted them by highest rated.

I can't give any personal recommendations to any of them, but I do know there are many on Brick Lane, which you can read about here: http://wikitravel.org/en/London/Brick_Lane. It seems like it's become a bit of a tourist trap, however.

Happy travels!

I like the Red Fort in SoHo but it's pricey.

We really enjoyed Hason Raja on Southhampton Row (half-way between the Holborn and Russell Sq. tube stations). My son and his girlfriend live in Uganda, where the Indian food is supposed to be fantastic. They think "American" Indian food is generally mediocre, but they thought Hason Raja was second only to their favorite restaurants in Kampala. It's a very attractive space, fairly pricey, though.

We visit Masala Zone (the Soho location) on every visit to London, It is casual and not expensive. The decor is pleasant and the food we have enjoyed there was all very good.

Our long-time favorite is the Standard Indian Restaurant, in Westbourne Grove.

We've had Indian food in the U.S. that is pretty good, but there's nothing quite like what's available in Britain. We were reminded of just how good that is when we got take-out delivered to our room at the Heathrow Novotel. Sigh.

Thank you all,

I like the look of the Marsala Zone Restaurants in both Soho and Covent Garden but Soho is only 2 stops from our hotel so it will probably be that one.

Thanks again

Helen

I'm very happy to see that there's also one in Earl's Court. DS and I are going to be staying at the Holiday Inn Express there in June. He loves Indian food and this looks like it'll fit in our budget!

Thanks for posting that recommendation, enzian. And, Helen, thanks for starting the thread.
