Suggestions for - 4 days in Zurich, 4 in Austria
 

Hi friends,

I am visiting Zurich in late-June, with my husband, and we will have around 8 days to spend in the region. We are thinking of dividing the time equally between Switzerland and Austria. Our list of must-see places contains:
1. Lucerne
2. Salzburg
3. Vienna

Rest we are unsure of. We like to check out museums and castles but prefer to spend more time outdoors. We are fond of checking out different than usual sites. Also, we are limited by the fact that we are flying in and out from Zurich. It would be great if you have some suggestions on how to divide our time and what places to visit. Thanks!!

well in 8 days, your three chosen places will be quite enough.

you could take in Melk Abbey in between Salzburg and Vienna.

as you are flying into and out of Luzern, i suggest going straight to Vienna then making your way back to Luzern so as to be in the right place for flying home at the end of the trip. that also maximises your time in each place as you are not splitting up your time anywhere.

40 minute train North of Zurich to SchaffHAUsen, medieval city center, then bus 20 minutes East to STEIN AM RHINE. You won't regret it! I 99% promise!
