Suggestion for Telephone at CDG Airport, Paris

When we arrive in Paris next month, I have to make two phone calls from the CDG airport -- one to the shuttle company to pick us up and one to alert the apartment rental agency that we've arrived. What's the best way to do this? Use a pay phone in the airport? Purchase a phone card? Thanks.

I also had to make a phone call from the CDG airport recently. I used a pay phone. They're easy to use.

Do not buy a phone card at CDG - it is a total rip-off, I bought it for 10 Euro. I made two local phone calls and had 1 Euro left! The pay phones at the airport are much cheaper and just as easy to use.

Maybe it would help if you explained how you used the pay phones at CDG without a phone card. I don't intend to do this, but I remember the last time I did some years ago, you had to have a prepaid phone card to use them. They did not accept euro coins.

You might want to go to Kerouac's recent post on surviving CDG. He directs you to his link that has photos and locations of pay telephones.

Nukesafe, thanks for the information regarding Kerouac's post on surviving CDG. About pay telephones, he says, "Coin telephones have disappeared from France (telephones use cards only), but in airports and train stations, one can indeed find a few coin telephones. Here are some of the ones at CDG."

He has a photo of coin operated telephones at CDG. Hopefully, I'll be able to find them.

He has just posted another photo essay about navigating Gare du Nord. In it he shows a closeup of a coin operated phone. Perhaps this would help you recognize one in the wilderness of CDG.

There are many coin operated telephones at CDG. I used them recently. I believe it was 1 E for a short call to Paris.
