Suggestion for 1 night/day between Granada and Malaga
Hello. We'll be in Spain for 2 1/2 weeks in June and I'm looking for suggestions for part of my trip. We will be arriving in Granada around noon on a Monday. We will be staying in Granada Monday and Tuesday night and need to be in Malaga for a 3pm train on Thursday. We are trying to decide where to stay Wednesday night.
Here is some background for other parts of our trip: Madrid Valencia Peniscola Barcelona San Lorenzo de Escorial area(visiting friends) We would love to see a white villages either to stop for lunch or spend the night. Malaga sounds interesting (Picasso museum) but we are open to any suggestions. We will be travelling with our 2 kids (11 and 13). The beach is an option but it sounds like they may all be more built up than we like. Thanks! |
This journey between Granada and Malaga - public transport or car?

Nerja (pop 20 000) has great beaches (nine small and large beaches in town) and has retained much of its Andalusian charm.

Bus Granada to Malaga won't take more than two hours, destiny Malaga Bus Station; then next door is the RRWW station with a train link to the airport:; or you can take another bus (nº 19)round the corner, at calle Heroe de Sostoa, towards the airport, 15 minutes.

Thanks for the info. We will be travelling by car.
Too many places and not enough time! Kimhe, any recommendations on places to stay in Nerja? |
From low cost to luxcury, all these places would be great. Right in the center of everything and virtually on the seafront:
Hostal Mena, basic but excellent value. Been around for fifty years. Stayed here several times, and can highly recommend it. Some 45€ for a double with terrace with great views of the sea: http://www.hostalmena.es/hostal/eng/ Hotel Plaza Cavana, 50 meters away from Mena, on central Plaza Cavana. Swimming pool, gym etc.: http://www.booking.com/hotel/es/plaz...fbf859ad4bf9X5 Romantic Hotel Carabeo, right on the cliffs in the oldest street in town, seaside Calle Carabeo: http://www.hotelcarabeo.com/ The modern Parador is tranquile luxcury and seven min walk to the Balcón de Europa. Elevator down to the Burriana beach: http://www.booking.com/hotel/es/para...fbf859ad4bf9X1 For a local dining experience, I recommend extremely popular La Marina, as good as you get a seafood freiduría in all of Andalucía. The freshest fish and seafood, had many splurges here: http://www.guideofnerja.com/pages/gu.../marina_en.htm Or try one of the many great tapas bars/restaurants in the old town. Delicious free tapas to chose with every glass of beer/wine/whatever in the bar areas. Pulguilla, just off Balcón de Europa, is fabulous. http://mynerja.com/view/bars/cerveceria-el-pulguilla/ Further into the old town, I can especially recommend El Niño, Taberna del Pescador, Los Bilbainos, Los Cuñaos and La Puntilla. Good food and great local atmosphere: http://www.nerjatoday.com/barsandrestaurants/ Two gourmet style restaurants in central Nerja, serving fabulous local specialities: Casa Luque: http://www.casaluque.com/restaurant-in-nerja.php Sollun: http://www.sollunrestaurante.com/ |
I would stay in Comares. If you're British or Irish you might prefer Nerja though.
