Suggested areas / hotels for 2 nights accomodation in Milan 22/23 Dec, 2013
Hi,
We are travelling to Milan from Australia in Dec (by Air). Arriving early morning.
What areas should I be looking for accomodation in to be central to most sights, restaurants, duomo, last supper, Brera area which I have heard is nice etc
Can anyone suggest some good accomodation for 3 adults (mother and two adult kids) ? 1 room preferably. Willing to spend upto 200-250 Euros per night.
We leave Milan on the 24th Dec to Venice by Train.
Many Thanks in advance

Not far from the main train station is the Hotel Berna, always good value. Transportation (metro and buses) is not far away, and a walk to the Duomo and Galleria area is about 20 mintues and a nice walk.
Make sure you are absolutely pickpocketproof when using the Metro and buses and when mingling in the inevitable tourist crowds.

I suggest the Milano Centrale train station area too. You will arrive there from the airport (by train or by bus) and you will leave from there to Venice.
Any other location would mean waste of time (and may be hassle) with transfers.
You may also check Hotel Michelangelo (as close as possible to the airport bus station and the side entry to the railway station platforms), comfortable and queit.

Yes, that much I thought but still I don't get why booking.com is the EUROPEAN booking engine. Your preference maybe? I do use booking.com but so I do venere.com as well.

Booking.com is Dutch. They have a bigger choice of hotels at small European places than the search engines of the Expedia Group (hotels com etc.).
Venere was a fine searching engine for Italy as long as it was an idipendent Italian firm, but no longer of much utility now.
BTW: I usually use agoda for Asia, HRS for Germany, Booking for Europe, Hotels.com for North and South America, http://www.hotelscombined.com/Place/Cuba.htm for Cuba.
