Suggest a hotel/area in London with a central location for July
 

Hi everyone,

DH and I will be in London for 4 nights in July before heading to Paris for 6 nights. I have been to Paris, but neither of us has been to London. Also, I will be almost 5 months pregnant.

Are there any hotels that you would suggest? I will need AC, and a good, central location for all the sites. We'll probably want to see the Tower of London, Big Ben, the Globe Theater, Westminster Abbey, etc...Basically, all the 1st timer attractions!

As for budget, I'd like to stay around $300 USD or under that per night. It doesn't have to be super fancy, just clean, comfy, modern, etc... I'm overwhelmed as I don't know all the sections of London. Could anyone suggest an area or a specific hotel that I could look into? Thanks so much :)

I'll start off with the usual response to someone wanting to stay in a central location in London. There really is no such thing. The tube and bus will get you to any place you want to go.So any area in central London will work. A few: Kensington,South Kensington,Knightsbridge, Notting Hill, Bloomsbury,Mayfair,Covent Garden. All of these will work for you.

Since air-conditioning has never been a prioity for me, I can't make any hotel suggestions; however, Priceline seems to be a popular option for most London visitors.

We have stayed at the 4* Rubens Hotel twice. It has A/C and is located across from the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace. It is only 2 short blocks from Victoria Station and St. James Park as well as Green Park and, of course, Buckingham Palace.

The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are nicely furnished, and they have a great breakfast buffet.

We have always booked on www.londontown.com for the lowest rate but you can also contact the hotel directly to check their price. The last time we were there, we paid under 150 GBP.

Try either the Marriott or Premier Inn at County Hall depending on how much you really want to spend.

Both are as "central" as you are likely to get for tourist London plus it's a short walk to Waterloo for the Eurostar

You might try the Academy Townhouse Hotel (http://www.theetoncollection.com/con...spx?pageID=414) on Gower St, Bloomsbury. It's right across the street from the University of London, around the corner from the British Museum, and easy walking distance to Covent Garden and West End theaters and other attractions. We have stayed there several times and always had a good experience. Last month we got a double for around 120BP with VAT and breakfast. Have a great visit.

Another possibility is the Thistle Charing Cross which is as "central" as any, located on top of a Tube stop and within easy walking distance of another; walkable to Trafalgar Square and the Covent Garden area. Air conditioned and you can usually get it at a discount through Londontown.com and sometimes with the full buffet breakfast included.

Oh, do please check oout the Sanctuary House Hotel - look at it from TripAdvisor website - we are staying there in June, around 140GP and it seems lovley to me
