Such a mundane question

I continually have problems with Converters when I go abroad,, UGH.. Will be staying in an apt in Prague for a week and will need electrical connection, does anyone know for sure what I need and where to buy before I leave.. thanks..

It all depends on what you need an electrical connection for.

laptop?
ipod?
cell phone?

hair dryer?
curling iron?
flat iron?

For the 1st 3, look at the charger you use at home. These and similar items should say 100-240V, meaning they will work fine in Europe WITHOUT a converter - in fact you should NOT use a converter with these. You just need a plug adaptor.

And for the 2nd 3 items on J62's list, either buy a dual-voltage model (with a switch for 120/240) or wait until you get to Prague and buy at a local store.

I've used a dual-voltage hair dryer quite a bit; they don't get as hot in Europe.

Fully agree with all of the above..If you have the iron, dryer etc. that you want to take that are not dual, just buy a converter to take with you..they are small and cheap.............

Do take an adaptor with you even if you do not need a converter; that said, have you ask the people you are renting from? usually they have a stack of those from previous renters (my own experience...). Have fun; Prague is amazing!!:-D
