Style of Rome hotels

Hi All!

I have been doing a lot of research on Hotels in Rome and dont seem to like any of them in my range (100-125E). My hotel in Venice (San Moise)is so charming, but the ones i have reviewed in Rome are very drab! Is my budget too low for something nice? Please advise and thanks in advance!

Check out the Hotels Sonya and Aberdeen reviews among others on this website. Both are "nice" and affordable, though not, perhaps charming. Me, I can get enough charm in the rest of Rome and will settle for clean, safe, and comfortable when the price is right!

When are you going? I've been researching Rome hotels for over a year and your budget seems low to me...but not if you'll be there in mid winter.

OK, I see you're going in late Nov.

Try Hotel San Carlo

It's hard to get into Hotel Parlamento, but you might email them. Ask for one of the rooms overlooking the roof terrace.

As long as you can live without a "lobby", I can heartily recommend the Hotel Selene to you. The rooms may not be what you would term charming, but they are extremely well-designed and comfortable as compared to many other more expensive hotels we have stayed at in Rome.

Beginning November 2nd, they are quoting 90 euro for a double room (actually a triple, if you look at their web site) with buffet breakfast included.

We have stayed there twice this year, and prefer it over the Aberdeen for room and bath amenities, as well as location.

The hotel is on a "limited access" street that is only three blocks from Termini. (No need for a cab when coming or going to the airport.) The hotel buffet breakfast room, as well as all the rooms are on the third floor of a palazzo style building with grand winding staircase. (There is also an elevator/ 4 person max.)

The buffet breakfast is more generous than the Aberdeen's, plus you sit in a well-decorated breakfast room rather than in the "windowless" basement offered by the Aberdeen

The hotel is 1/2 block from the Opera, two blocks from the Republica Metro stop, and two blocks from the bus routes on Via Nazionale.

The rooms are spacious, have three beds, marble baths, room safe, mini-bar, individually controlled heat and A/C, as well as "full length mirrors" on the closet doors, and well-located electrical outlets. ( Mirror and outlet locations are two of my pet peeves about European hotel rooms!)

My husband's brother is fastidious about cleanliness, and he and his wife were very pleased with the Selene.

Della Torre Argentina has nice, classy rooms for reasonable prices. Great breakfast, too.

The Hotel Della Torre Argentina is 220 euros for a double per night. This is over the budget requested, although it looks very nice and well located.

It is true that one can't get a charming room in Rome at your budget. I too think you will have to settle for clean, comfortable and safe.

I know someone who always stays at the Arenula and thinks very highly of it:

This could be the place you will like. My acquaintance certainly does.
