Stuttgart, Germany and Iasi, Romania from Chicago

We want to travel to visit our exchange student in Stuttgart for a couple of days and then on to Iasi, Romania for our Son's wedding. We will be traveling from Chicago, IL USA. We are looking for ideas and suggestions.

I would suggest adding a few more days in Romania (I have no idea how many you intend any way). Iasi is all right but you should tour Bucovina, Maramures and Transylvania should you allow the time for it. Allow at least one week after the weeding is done for touring.

Looking for advice on how to travel to Romania and back. We do plan to spend a little over a week in Romania, our Son and Daughter in law have some sight seeing planned. Is it best to make reservations on line for travel since we are have a several day stop in Stuttgart, or is it better to contact a travel agent?
Thanks,
Lauren

You might want to look at my trip report, although you would have to trim its coverage. Just click on my name to find it.

You could fly from Stuttgart to Iasi with a very brief layover in Timisoara using Carpatair ( http://www.carpatair.com/EN/ ). The flight costs from about $270 booked through their website, but it's slightly cheaper through travel agents/sites.

Or you could fly from Stuttgart to Bucharest with the budget airlines BlueAir ( http://www.blueairweb.com/First-Page/ ) or Germanwings ( https://www.germanwings.com/en/index.shtml ). In this case definitely book online, if you do it with a few weeks in advance you can find tickets around $30.
From Bucharest you can fly to Iasi with TAROM ( http://www.tarom.ro/en/ ), which starts at about $75 through their website as well as through travel agencies.
