You can tell a country is expensive when its own citizens travel over the border to buy bread and meat. That is what all the people I know there do. Last year, during a visit, I discussed going out to a restaurant, when my hosts realised I meant a Swiss restaurant they laughed themselves onto the floor so we went to Austria for the main course and Germany for icecream.

Make your mind up PalenQ. Up thread you were disagreeing with me about Switzerland being expensive, now you're saying it is.>

Well that was directed to backpackers who want to stay in hostels or Nature Friend's Houses - meaning it could be cheaper than one may think and eating from supermarkets - but for the average traveler staying in proper hotels and eating out it is very expensive.

Even hostels, etc are more expensive than other countries so across the board it is more expensive as the McDonalds poll shows.

I should have said to economize go to Interlaken or Grindelwald because they have a plethora of inexpensive for Switzerland accommodations. Still not cheap though as in other countries for similar digs.
