students flight cancelled - things to do in Frankfurt -

Students stuck in Frankfurt because of cancelled flights - staying in airport hotel- need ideas on places they can go. 7 degrees outside in December.

Take S-Bahn to Frankfurt.
Glühwein at the Christmas market in Frankfurt should help.
Museums along the Main river are good to warm up (and not only for that, of course)
Finish the day in one of the Sachsenhausen pubs and get hammered on apple wine :-)

Take S-Bahn to Mainz
Christmas market. See above.
Gutenberg-Museum, Cathedral, Roman excavations.
Replace apple wine with regular wine to same effect :-)

Hope everything will work out fine with your flights eventually.

I would vote for Mainz. In addition to the sights mentioned in the other post, there are Chagall stained glass windows in the Stephanskirche and an attractive Altstadt. It's all easy to walk to from the train station

Just got back from the Christmas Market in Frankfurt. Loads of people, every one having a good time. Went to a handbell concert in the Alte Nikolai. The snow is nice because it is really dry and not melting, so no slush. Got some fantastic photos.

Will they be here on Monday too, or was it just for Sunday?
