Student travel websites?

Hello all,
Does anyone know of any travel forums geared more towards students, other than the thorn tree on lonely planet? Or any other good student travel websites? Thanks for your help! :)

I am assuming that you mean college students, and I regret that I don't any other web sites that stack up in the same league as lonelyplanet. Is there some reason you are disappointed in what you are getting there? What kind of info are you seeking?

If you mean high school or younger, let me recommend www.afac.org for France, specifically. I have a lot of (very positive) experience with AFAC, both as a parent/host family for our daguhters who participated when they were in the fifth grade - - and as an "accompagnateur" in a subsequent year after our girls had gone. I can't comment exactly on their high-school based programs, but I would be inclined to think that they are similarly well run.

Best wishes,

Rex
Thanks Rex. Yes, I do mean college student. I just found the lonely planet board to be somewhat vague and disorganized. I am basically just looking for good hostel reccommendations, etc. Thanks for your suggestions.

Try www.eurotrip.com. My absolute favorite website. Make sure you go to the forums page (www.eurotrip.com/forum).

Also, try
www.VirtualTourist.com

which is general interest but many posters are students.

Try www.hostels.com, they also have a forum and you'll find informations about almost every hostel on this planet.

Julie, I think Thorn Tree on Lonely Planet is an amazing site! I've got fantastic info there for both Mexico and Europe over the past 2 years. I don't know of another BB even close to it. If you find it "vague and disorganized" here are a few tips:

1) I assume you have registered and are posting your own questions (if not, you need to, to make it work best).

2) Review your own wording of questions, for specificity and clarity. Not "what's a good hostel in France?"... but specific cities, price range, features, etc.

3) Use the 'search' function.

4) Lastly (if you haven't already) post this question over on TT. You're much more likely to get suggestions for other websites for hostel listings, backpacker tips, student discounts, etc. then here on Fodors ;-)
