Student ID question
I apologize if this is a duplicate. I posted this question earlier today, but can't find it.
We are planning a trip to Greece this summer. I know there is an ISIC student ID available for $22 for student discounts at museums, etc. Does anyone know if they will accept a local school ID instead, or must it be the ISIC card? Thanks. |
Hi Barry,
I was finishing up grad school in August 2002 when I went on a month-long trip to Italy, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. I had an ISIC card and my friend had her University ID. Especially in Italy, the ISIC was required to get the student discount. |

Thanks for both replies. I'm new here - just learning the board...

Hope you don't mind if I add a question here for TexasAggie, or others who know the answer.
I had the impression non-European students couldn't get much of a discount for anything in Italy, but perhaps that is just at museums. What kind of things can students get discounts on in Italy with an ISIc? |
I used my ISIC card for discounts at the Vatican, the Pitti Palace, Uffizi, Boboli Gardens, Castel San't Angelo... also several places in Germany.
Keep in mind, this was almost 3 years ago, so policies might have changed. An STA Travel Agency (they have them in most college towns) should have current information on the issue. |
Sorry, re-reading your question... I only used the card for discounts on site and museum admissions. I don't recall seeing the opportunity for a student discount anywhere else.

Thanks, Texasaggie.
