Student cities to enjoy in Italy

Hello everyone; i will be travelling across Europe next week, and i will stay 10-15 days in Italy.

I am looking for energic cities; that are full of young people like me (college students would be best), have many bars, pubs, cafes, etc. and a nightlife of course.

First destination for me is Milano, than Rome. but i really need your advice on which cities i should be visiting except Milan and Rome? The city can be big or small in terms of population. the only thing i am looking is either the density of young population is high, or number of young people is high (I am assuming if there is young people population in a city, then it is also energic, live, and have lots of bars, pubs, cafes)

To be honest i enjoy small cities much (as long as there are young population out there) because i dont like too crowded places. So please advise me.

Cheers from Brasil.

Bologna is one of the best
Perugia is a great student city

Students aren't normally around in August, unless they're in summer programs.

Forget Milan, Rome and Bologna in August. Either everything is closed or it is unbelievably hot (especially Bologna). Florence is your best bet at this time of year.

Agree with PalenQ and nochblad and would, Pisa and Venice.

Possibly Perugia might have more going in in August since there are so many schools there.

No students around in August. Just been in Milan and it is full of tourists in the center, of foreign workers in the suburbs, the residents seem having been vaporized; and it is extremely hot. The same could be told of Florence or any other cities. If you are looking for nightlife at this time, you should look for sea resorts like the area between Cesenatico-Rimini-Pesaro or the Viareggio-Forte dei Marmi area.
