He was so instrumental getting my oldest granddaughter into grad school.

What incredibly sad news. Stu's love of life and his love of travel were inspirational. He will be very sorely missed.

Oh dear oh dear. One of my best e-mail pals. He always let me know when his son was going to be playing in his band nearby us, and we went once. We shared so many travel and other tales. I have his books, too, which he generously sent to me. This is a really sad moment for me.

Sad news indeed. Stu chimed in to one of my threads on Spain with fascinating information about the the Ladino language and the departure of Sephardic Jews from Spain.

I purchased and enjoyed <i>The Wayfarers</i> after that, and was honored he called me a "bro".

Very sad news. Stu Tower was a great Fodorite, and an awesome fella in general. We were very glad to finally meet him in person at one of the Boston GTGs a few years ago, and he was exactly the great guy we'd imagined him to be.

My condolences to his family and friends, and to the Fodors community. We've lost an original.

When he knew I was touring the gravesites of those that died in WWI and WW II, Stu was a wealth of knowledge.

What terrible news.

He always brought a smile to my face with his comments and suggestions for the "Prince and Princess of Pasadena." This is a tremendous loss. He will be sorely missed.

Sad news. I had many conversations on line and via email with Stu, we were both lovers of the City of Prague and discussed it a lot,he always claimed the Judith Tower in Prague was named for his wife.he very kindly sent me decals with special messages from him that I could put into his books that I had bought.
we never met but I know I have lost a friend.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news about Stu Tower. I enjoyed reading his posts, and I remember him especially from posts about Prague. I live in central Massachusetts, and if I remember correctly, Stu once told me he grew up in Quincy, MA, near Boston, about an hour from where I live. And Stu Dudley, you are right, because I sometimes did get the two of you confused.

He was very kind and helpful when my daughter and I were planning a summer touring WWII and Holocaust sites around Europe when she was still in high school.
