Strikes in Madrid
Does anyone know of a website that tracks strikes in Madrid? We are going there next week and want to know if there are any type of transportation strikes scheduled. I know that Italy posts theres a head of time. Thanks.

there is a truck strike starting in France and Italy on the 6th of june,
it could be followed in Spain and havesome roadblocks, in principle during the coming weekend. It should not affect trains and planes but it may slow down road moves. In the past the truckdrivers let cars pass and just block trucks. It is not a schedule strike, so the question is , how much it will be followed? The impression here is that it will have some effect next Friday and not much more. |
If any strikes are pre planned, and I have not heard of any, you should read the on-line editions of the Spanish newspapers.

Right now, the only strike going on is that of the "parking guards". It won´t affect you unless you are driving and trying to park, because if you find a place the "parkimeter" won´t be working and it will be free.
The truck strike is supposed to begin on the 9th of June, and it is already affecting industries and so on (you try to get your supplies beforehand). Bye, Cova |
Report on the strikes today (at least in Madrid). A normal bus route back from work in the afternoon takes me around 30 minutes. Today it has been 75 minutes.
The lorries were blocking the A1 road at the entrance to Madrid, and the traffic jam has been huge during the whole day. Supermarkets have also been affected, mostly because the people have gone mad buying the most strange things. I have just seen an old woman buying around 10 kilos of green peppers. I seriously wonder what´s she going to do with them. Otherwise, awful weather. Bye, Cova |
