Thanks for starting this... we're leaving June 27th and now I'm paranoid. Wouldn't care so much if we were to get "stuck" over there, though... ;) -- h.

geez! deffered = deferred! Sorry :)

Rookie May 31st, 2005 06:43 PM

hlocke1 ~ not to worry. The good folks at seekitaly.com will be back from vacation later this week and will update their website with new strike information. They do a really good job at that.

It is just people travelling this weekend who don't have the benefit of their help right now. I'd be panic stricken, too.

mollmatt ~ I neglected to note that the pilot's strike is moved to 26.06.05

LoveItaly May 31st, 2005 06:56 PM

Hi mollmatt. Well I went onto Google to see what I could find (as my info was from the International Herald Tribune, an internally respected newspaper. But you are right, of course, the Whatsoinrome shows different dates, sigh. The IHT only changes info once a day on their website, going along with the printing of the newspaper.

So, everyone will have to keep a close eye on the situation.

Rookie, thanks for the seekinitaly.com website. That is nice to know about.

LoveItaly May 31st, 2005 07:36 PM

Oh my, I should have used the edit button. An internationally not internally

Rookie, Thanks for giving me hope that my flight from London to Venice will not be effected. I leave this afternoon and was very nervous about that flight on Monday. Wish me luck!

Any NEW information re: June times and dates for strikes?

JEAN33437 Jun 6th, 2005 01:41 AM

ENAV (ITALIAN AIR CONTROLLERS)strike scheduled for June8th, has been postponed...Now I just have to worry about hop to Bari on the 18th and return trip on the 23rd..

rohani Jun 6th, 2005 12:00 PM

JEAN33437- This is great news, but were did you read that it was cancelled? I emailed our hotel (Locanda Orseolo)last night to let them know we'd arrive later than expected and to see if they had any current info. As far as they knew it was still confirmed to happen.

JEAN33437 Jun 6th, 2005 12:53 PM

Rohani: go into the ENAV.com site...you will see a vertical scrolling news report...click on the one that starts with DIFFERITO SCIOPERO ETC...it's in Italian, but what it translates to (on babelfish) is that the strike has been postponed.
AIN'T LIFE GRAND !!

rohani Jun 6th, 2005 01:33 PM

Thank you. As long as it's deferred! Have a nice trip. I leave tomorrow. :)

moldyhotelsaregross Jun 6th, 2005 01:33 PM

Argh! We are scheduled to take a train early in the morning of June 23. When does the 24 hour time period begin?

moldyhotelsaregross Jun 6th, 2005 01:37 PM

I just found the answer to my own question. :)

The train strike on the 23rd is scheduled from 2100 June 23 to 2100 June 24.

JEAN33437 Jun 6th, 2005 02:54 PM

Dear Moldyhotels...keep the faith..perhaps the June 23rd strike will be postponed/cancelled...actually that is the day I leave Italy for home...

Rookie Jun 7th, 2005 07:08 AM
