Stresa, as I'm sure you know, is on the banks of Lake Maggiore and is the departure point for the Borromean Islands, which are quite interesting. Frommer's lists quite a few hotels and restaurants there of varying prices. You might try the Fodor's search at this address, also. I have been there, and it is quite a lovely place.
