Stresa - Como

Does anyone know if there's regular bus service between Stresa and Lake Como? Is this the most convenient way to get between these cities without a car?

I'm curious about public transportation among th various lakes, too.

Hi Carol! / Amdd - I don't think there's a direct service. (The nearest to a direct service would be Malpensa-Como, - but then you'd have the inconvenience of getting to Malpensa).

I think your best route will be by train via Milan.

There may be an alternative route via Varese (-or even Lugano if you're headed to Menaggio) - but these would be no quicker.

There is a boat/bus service from Stresa to Lugano, and then you can bus an hour to Mennagio on the west shore of Como. I suspect it would take 3 hours with good connections.

The fastest service is to train down to Milano Centrale (1 hr), then train up to Como (45 mins.) It's geographically counterintuitive, but practical.
